Sydney residents left without running water for four days have been offered credit on their next bill as well as a discount.

A break in a water main on Epping Road near Mowbray Road in Lane Cove on the city’s lower north shore on Saturday took longer than expected to fix.

Sydney Water said today that all repairs have been completed and that those affected are entitled to compensation.

“We deeply apologize to the community and would like to offer assistance to affected customers via a $200 credit on their next water bill,” Sydney Water director Roch Cheroux said in a statement.

“This financial assistance recognizes the inconvenience and disruption this water main break has caused.”

Customers are also eligible for Sydney Water’s $40 unscheduled water service discount, which applies to the next quarterly bill. They will also be credited $160 in fixed service fees on their next quarterly account.

Yesterday, some residents were offered showers at a nearby hotel while repairs were still underway.

“Sydney Water crews continue to restore the system to normal operation following a main break at Epping Road, Lane Cove,” Sydney Water said in a statement.

“Water pressure continues to rise in a number of suburbs as we progress through these operations.

“We will continue to methodically work through our plan tonight to restore the system to normal operations as quickly as possible.”

But the ordeal is not over for Lane Cove residents after crews found another break in the water main at Mowbray Road

“Up to 315 properties in the Lane Cove area will experience a loss of water until 7.30pm tonight while crews repair the water main,” Sydney Water said around midday today.

Sydney Water said the agency has organized shower facilities at Accor Hotels for affected residents until their water supply is restored.

“Some customers may experience further interruptions to their water supply overnight, including no or low water pressure,” Sydney Water said.

Sydney Water announced that water refill stations are available at Lane Cove West and North Sydney so residents can access safe drinking water.

It comes as Lane Cove Coles was previously stripped of bottled water.

Sydney Water has apologized for the impact on residents.

“We deeply apologize to our customers and acknowledge the inconvenience and disruption this has caused,” the agency said.

The previous burst pipe had affected residents across Artarmon, Chatswood, Cremorne, Greenwich, Lane Cove, Lane Cove West, Neutral Bay, North Sydney, Waverton and Wollstonecraft.
