Daredevil: Born Again Won’t Be a Continuation of the Netflix Series

Daredevil star Charlie Cox says Daredevil: Born Again will not continue the Netflix show.

During an interview with IGN at Disney’s D23 Expo, the 39-year-old Marvel actor confirmed that his upcoming MCU show will not pick up where Daredevil left off.

“I don’t think that means we’re going to tell Frank Miller’s Born Again story in the comics,” he revealed. “I don’t think it means that. I think it’s—you know, we made it [Netflix] show, it ended, years passed and we do another show. It’s a perfect title.”

Charlie Cox starred in Netflix’s Daredevil show for three impressive seasons and was confirmed to return as Daredevil last year.

He then made a surprise appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home – giving Peter Parker legal advice as his lawyer alter ego, Matt Murdock.

It was confirmed earlier this year that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil would get his own MCU series, and finally Daredevil: Born Again was confirmed. But what does the title mean for the upcoming show?

“Born Again is an iconic Daredevil run in the comics, and it’s a great title for our show because we’re doing this show again in a new way,” Cox said. “I think the show will be a little different tonally — I don’t know how yet — I haven’t read anything yet. We’re doing 18 episodes, which tells me that the structure and the way we’re going to tell our story is going to be a little different.

The original Netflix show aired in 13-episode seasons, with Cox’s Daredevil also appearing in the eight-episode miniseries The Defenders, alongside Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and Finn Jones as Iron Fist.

Daredevil: 9 Ways Season 3 changed Marvel Comics

How different the upcoming MCU version of Daredevil will be compared to the Netflix version remains to be seen. But with a different creative team and Kevin Feige at the helm, it looks like a different kind of Daredevil is in the works.

And it won’t be based on the Born Again comic from 1986. After all, Season 3 of the former Netflix show already loosely adapted that arc.
