Prince William has pulled out of a visit to New York next week because of the Queen’s death. He was due to visit the city primarily to attend a summit on September 21 ahead of the second Earthshot award ceremony. The awards will be held in Boston in December as part of Williams’ initiative to help promote technological innovations that can save the world from the worst effects of climate change and other environmental crises.

But William, 40, has canceled the visit because the royal family is still in mourning for another seven days after his grandmother’s funeral on Monday, and there were still concerns about whether he could get there in time.

The Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit will be held on September 21st, an event that aims to create impact around solutions focused on tackling climate change and to reinforce the Earthshot Prize’s mission.

The Prince of Wales was due to attend the summit alongside Michael R. Bloomberg, who has committed to helping scale and replicate the most successful solutions tackling the problems facing the planet presented at the Earthshot Prize.

Mr. Bloomberg is the global adviser to the winners of The Earthshot Prize, which, launched in October 2020, will name five winners a year until 2030.

During the summit, hosted by the award itself and Bloomberg Philanthropies, Mr Bloomberg and William planned to celebrate the finalists and winners of the first-ever Earthshot Awards, to be held in October 2021 in London.

But William has canceled the visit to the Big Apple, where Her Majesty’s state funeral falls just two days before the summit.

King Charles III has declared Monday, September 19, a public holiday to allow the public to pay tribute to his late mother and watch the funeral unfold live.

Prince William was spotted at Sandringham today with wife Kate Middleton as the pair addressed members of the public and admired tributes to the Queen following her death last week.

Hundreds of mourners were at Sandringham today, with spectators held back by security gates as the couple came up the line.

It follows a busy few days for the prince, who appeared alongside his brother Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle on Saturday and attended a service for the Queen at Westminster Hall yesterday afternoon.

Prince William wore military uniform as he walked from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall behind his father – King Charles III.

Paying tribute to his grandmother, Prince William wrote: “I have benefited from the Queen’s wisdom and reassurance in my fifth decade. My wife has had twenty years of her guidance and support. My three children will holiday with her and make memories that will last their whole lives.”
