A TikTok video of King Charles III’s hilariously quick response to a fan who asked him out for a beer in Birmingham has amassed over 8 million views.

The 14-second video shows fan Daniel Walker asking the then Prince of Wales out for a pint at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in July.

“I had only finished work and was going to meet my mates for a drink, minding my own business – until suddenly I saw him,” the 36-year-old told Jam Press.

“I thought if I go for a pint I might ask if he wants one too.”

The footage, taken by onlooker Andrew Gould, shows the monarch walking through the crowd when Mr Walker suddenly exclaims: “Charles, would you like a beer?”

“What?” replies the 73-year-old, looking puzzled.

The e-commerce specialist repeats the question and King Charles’s eyes light up and he asks, “Where?”

Charles and the audience burst into laughter before he points back and says: “You’ll have to recommend a place!”

“It’s something I could talk about for the rest of my life,” said Mr. Walker, 36, to Jam Press.

The Birmingham native said the royal’s security thought the interaction was funny and told him to wait because Charles wanted to meet him.

“I got to meet him afterwards and shake his hand. He was about to walk away but saw me and held out his hand before asking what I did for a job,” Mr Walker said.

“He commented that I was a ‘proper Brummie lad’ and wished me all the best.

“It made me like him even more because I saw his human side. I hope he’s still up for that pint because that would be incredible.”
