The Queen lies in repose at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh after a procession from the nearby Palace of Holyroodhouse, which was attended by thousands of people.
Her coffin was transported to Edinburgh on Sunday from Balmoral Castle, where she died, aged 96.
On Monday afternoon, the doors of St Giles’ Cathedral were thrown open to tens of thousands of well-wishers who shuffled past the royal family holding a Vigil of the Princes.

Tuesday, September 13
King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla will travel to Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland, where they will see an exhibition about the Queen and her long association with the country.
After a short reception in Hillsborough, the King and Queen consort travel to St Anne’s Cathedral for a service of prayer and reflection.
The couple then travel to London.
In the afternoon, the The Queen’s coffin will be flown from Edinburgh Airport on a Royal Air Force plane to RAF Northolt.
Princess Anne, the Queen’s only daughter, also travels by plane.
Then, from Northolt, the the coffin will be driven to Buckingham Palace to rest in the Bow room.
Wednesday 14 September
The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery will take the coffin by gun carriage from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
Members of the royal family and a military parade will accompany the gun carriage.
King Charles III will lead the procession behind the carriage, which will be draped in the Royal Standard.
The public will be able to view the procession which will travel via Queen’s Gardens, The Mall, Horse Guards and Horse Guards Arch, Whitehall, Parliament Street, Parliament Square and New Palace Yard.
Once in Westminster, the Archbishop of Canterbury will hold a service which the royal family will attend.
Thursday, September 15
Thursday will be the first full day where the The Queen’s body will lie in state in Westminster Hall.
It is expected that members of the public will wait in long queues, possibly overnight, to pay their respects to the Queen.
It is expected that her coffin will be closed.
It will remain at Westminster until the funeral on Monday.
Friday, September 16
Leaders from across the Commonwealth are expected to begin arriving in London ahead of the funeral.
The King and Queen Consort will visit Wales.
On Friday evening, it is expected that the royal family will engage in another Prinsvage – this time in Westminster Hall.
This weekend, the king will probably host one reception for foreign royalty and visiting managers, but details are yet to be confirmed.
Sunday, September 18
Britons will hold a minute’s silence at 8pm as a national moment of reflection, according to Prime Minister Liz Truss’s spokesman.
Monday, September 19
The Queen’s body will be taken from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey on Monday morning state funeral.
It is expected that the royal family will walk behind a gun carriage as it transports the coffin to Westminster Abbey in a short procession.
The funeral will be televised.
The Queen’s body will then be taken to St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where she will lie buried next to her husbandPrince Philip.
