Don Cheadle joined the MCU back in 2010 when he replaced Terrence Howard as Colonel James Rhodes in Iron Man 2. Since then, he has reprized his character, better known as “War Machine”, across seven different films and a television show within the Marvel realm.

In a recent interview with Variety at the D23 Expo over the weekend, Cheadle talked about his future with the MCU and his contractual obligations with the studio. When asked, he opened up about future MCU projects, confirming,

“I’m done with my contracted years in the MCU, so now it’s like if something sounds fun and I’m presented with it, then yeah, let’s go.”

He also spoke Variety regarding the upcoming TV series, Secret invasion. He said: “I’m so glad someone got the job. Secret is in the title. It’s not ‘Spoiler Invasion’, it’s ‘Secret Invasion’.” He teases fans that it won’t disappoint, calling it “a lot of fun.” Cheadle also confirms that it leads into the events of Tank wars states, “This is fun because this sets up what happens in the Tank wars. In the trailer you can see that he wants to confront Nick Fury. He and Fury will go at it for the entirety of this show, as far as they have to, given what’s happened on this planet at this point. It’s a thriller of sorts. It’s a different kind of show than you usually see in the MCU, which is great that we keep changing it and switching it up. It is very fun.”

Secret Wars expected to hit Disney+ in early 2023, while Tank wars expected to be released in 2024. It remains to be seen what other MCU projects Cheadle will take on in the near future.

In other entertainment news, Adam Sandler has announced his 2022 stand-up tour.
