We’ve got social media and reality TV stars doing martial arts again tonight (Sat. Sept. 10, 2022) as Austin McBroom and Aneson Gib finally square off at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, California after months and months of trash talk. The FITE.tv-streamed pay-per-view (PPV) show will also feature professional athletes trying out a different sport than they used to, with a “Battle of the Running Backs” between former Minnesota Vikings (and six other teams) rusher and potential Hall of Famer, Adrian Peterson, collides with a former retired ball carrier, LeVeon Bell, of the Pittsburgh Steelers (among others).
In fact, fists will fly and the audience will be filled with fans of YouTube, TikTok, NBA and NFL crossover fans using “social gloves” boxing!
MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the entire “McBroom vs. Gib” headlined PPV main card below, beginning with a 9:30 PM ET start time on. FITE.tv PPV.
In the co-main, from the NBA, we have “Swaggy P” himself, Mr. Nick Young – of Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Lakers fame – taking over rapper Jonathan Michael Porter (aka Blueface). Astute fans of martial arts may actually remember the final gentleman because he appeared on the undercard of BKFC 19: “Ostovich vs. VanZant” in a gloved amateur bout (he won a unanimous decision). Cancel it. Another rapper, a gentleman named Malcolm Minikon, steps in at late notice.
Moving past the sports stars, we have reality TV stars Cory Wharton and Chase Demoor, who you may remember from last night’s Midnight Mania feud.

Round 1: Minicon in black, Ung in white. Both men trade rights. Young people mostly circling, looking to counter. Young hits a straight right. Also a hook.

Round 2: Huge exchange here, knocking the mouthpiece out of Minikon. Minikon also got in a shot there, but ate about two or three good shots and staggered back. There is a clean dish from Minikon. “Swaggy P” with a quick left that lands flush.

Round 3: Young with a left and an uppercut. Young man complaining of a shot in the back of the head. Replays show he took one in a clinch. Well left by Young. Young has his hands down by his waist and darts forward with a left. He has done that a few times now to good effect.

Round 4: Same back from Young again. What just happened here? Young flies out of the ring as the referee called time. Looks like there was a head clash for a moment? Oops, the referee stops it. Replays show he just got ripped across the face by a forearm and this is not the best look for Young here.
220 lbs.: Adrian Peterson vs. LeVeon Bell
Round 1: Bell in white, Peterson in black. Bell opens up with a jab to the body. Another. Peterson just cuts one back. Bell keeps going to the body, which is nice to see from amateurs. AP just needs a dish.

Round 2: A punch puts Bell down, but the ref doesn’t count, so maybe there was a foot entanglement the camera missed? Body jab by Peterson. Replay after the end of the round shows it was a clean jab and it probably should have been called a knockdown.

Lap 3: Lead left by Bell. Straight to the bread basket. Jab by AP. The watch looks a little slick here.

Round 4: Peterson has had no success with anything other than that jab and he doubles up on it. Bell clubs a right but gets mostly shouldered. Bell tries an upper hand, misses.

Round 5: HUGE RIGHT HAND PLANTS ADRIAN PETERSON! AP gets to his feet, but he looks wobbly and since this is an exhibition, the ref is having none of it.
FINAL RESULTS: LeVeon bell def. Adrian Peterson, TKO
165 lbs.: Landon McBroom vs. Adam Saleh
Round 1: McBroom in blue, Saleh in grey. They butt heads a little at the first rush together. McBroom with a quick jab. Saleh circulates and doesn’t throw much. There he goes with a 3-punch combo, but doesn’t really land anyone.

Round 2: Saleh to the body. Again. Ref headbutt warning. McBroom backs Saleh into the corner and he shoots. Seven odd shots, most of which missed, but still one-way traffic. Saleh gets an upper hand. Right by McBroom.

Round 3: No real clean lands from either man here. Saleh backs up and strikes every time McBroom closes the ground. There’s a counter left and a right from Saleh. Finally a clean one lands from Saleh.

Round 4: Saleh comes forward and comes in with a left. McBroom with one. Nice right hand catches Saleh breathless. 1-2 misses for McBroom. Clean drive to right comes in from McBroom.

220 lbs.: Cory Wharton vs. Chase Demoor
Round 1: Demo in white, Wharton in black. Wharton ducks low and shoots heavily from the start. Demoor doesn’t look comfortable with his mouthpiece. Right hand from Demoor and Wharton takes a knee, but it’s doomed to slip. Left by Wharton.
There is no official score, but I will give Demoor 10-9
Round 2: Wharton coming out fired up but not landing any of those big shots. Finally a left lands. Another. They stand still for a few seconds, just mocking each other. Demoor hits a left.

Round 3: Demoor lands a counter right. Malignaggi and Garcia trash Demoor’s skill level here, and while I don’t blame them, he’s still somewhat effective here because Wharton isn’t able to find his range. He comes in right-left as the bell rings

Round 4: Demos with a quick plug. Demos are chasing Wharton down a bit now. Landing a dish. 1-2. All that pep has left Wharton’s steps here.

Round 5: Demo the aggressor here and Wharton has to sprint out of danger. Some taunting and finally a left lands for Wharton.
